Unemployment



Unemployment has fallen to 3.6% from 3.9%, the lowest it's been in 49 years. For specific groups unemployment has fallen even lower. Women unemployment has fallen to 3.1%, the lowest it's been in 66 years. Latinos unemployment has fallen to 4.2%, the lowest it's been in 46 years. Asian unemployment has hit a record low of 2.2%. Iraq and Afghanistan military veterans has also hit a record low of 1.7%.

These number are reflexed in industries such as: manufacturing, added 4,000 jobs; construction, added 32,000 jobs; accounting and engineering, added 76,000 jobs; health and education, added 62,000 jobs; restaurants and hotels, added 34,000 jobs. In spite of the retailing industry cutting 12,000 jobs.

The low unemployment rate has been great for post 2008 recession recovery. These numbers give entrepreneurs and those looking to start a new business faith in the economy. Investors in the U.S economic can now have more faith in their investment.

Department of Labor reported these numbers in their Employment Situation Summary, published Friday, May 3, 2019.
